DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 284/2024

amending Annex II (Technical regulations, standards, testing and certification) to the EEA Agreement [2025/552]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1696 of 19 June 2024 withdrawing the approval of the active substance acibenzolar-S-methyl in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council, amending Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540/2011 and repealing Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/389 ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1718 of 19 June 2024 amending Implementing Regulations (EU) 2020/617 and (EU) No 540/2011 as regards the conditions of approval of the active substance metalaxyl-M ( 2 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(3) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1892 of 10 July 2024 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540/2011 as regards the extension of the approval periods of the active substances amisulbrom, S-abscisic acid, thiencarbazone and valifenalate ( 3 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(4) Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1696 repeals Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/389 ( 4 ) , which is incorporated into the EEA Agreement and which is consequently to be repealed under the EEA Agreement.

(5) Annex II to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

Chapter XV of Annex II to the EEA Agreement shall be amended as follows:

Point 13a (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540/2011) is amended as follows:

(i) The text of the 175 th indent (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/389) is deleted.

(ii) The following indents are added in point 13a:

32024 R 1696 : Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1696 of 19 June 2024 ( OJ L, 2024/1696, 20.6.2024 ),

— 32024 R 1718 : Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1718 of 19 June 2024 ( OJ L, 2024/1718, 20.6.2024 ),

— 32024 R 1892 : Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1892 of 10 July 2024 ( OJ L, 2024/1892, 11.7.2024 ).’

The following is added in point 13zzzzzzzzzzr (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/617):

‘, as amended by:

— 32024 R 1718 : Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1718 of 19 June 2024 ( OJ L, 2024/1718, 20.6.2024 ).’

The following point is inserted after point 13zzzzzzzzzzzzzzl (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/836):

‘13zzzzzzzzzzzzzzm.

32024 R 1696 : Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/1696 of 19 June 2024 withdrawing the approval of the active substance acibenzolar-S-methyl in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council, amending Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 540/2011 and repealing Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/389 ( OJ L, 2024/1696, 20.6.2024 ).’

The text of point 13zzzzzzb (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2016/389) is deleted.

Article 2

The texts of Implementing Regulations (EU) 2024/1696, (EU) 2024/1718 and (EU) 2024/1892 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 7 December 2024, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) .

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
