DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 174/2024

amending Annex XX (Environment) to the EEA Agreement [2024/2561]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Commission Decision (EU) 2024/721 of 27 February 2024 establishing, pursuant to Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, the values of the Member State monitoring system classifications as a result of the intercalibration exercise and repealing Commission Decision (EU) 2018/229 ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Decision (EU) 2024/721 repeals Commission Decision (EU) 2018/229 ( 2 ) , which is incorporated into the EEA Agreement and which is consequently to be repealed under the EEA Agreement.

(3) Annex XX to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The text of point 13cab (Commission Decision (EU) 2018/229) is replaced by the following:

‘ 32024 D 0721 : Commission Decision (EU) 2024/721 of 27 February 2024 establishing, pursuant to Directive 2000/60/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council, the values of the Member State monitoring system classifications as a result of the intercalibration exercise and repealing Commission Decision (EU) 2018/229 ( OJ L, 2024/721, 8.3.2024 ).’

Article 2

The text of Decision (EU) 2024/721 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 6 July 2024, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) .

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
