DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 82/2024

of 15 March 2024

amending Protocol 47 to the EEA Agreement, on the abolition of technical barriers to trade in wine [2024/1632]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2137 of 6 October 2023 conferring protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the name ‘Schouwen-Duiveland’ (PDO) ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2140 of 6 October 2023 conferring protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the name ‘Terres du Midi’ (PGI) ( 2 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(3) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2148 of 6 October 2023 conferring protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the name ‘Terras da Beira’ (PGI) ( 3 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(4) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2164 of 10 October 2023 conferring protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the name ‘Großräschener See’ (PGI) ( 4 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(5) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2173 of 10 October 2023 conferring protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the name ‘Terras de Cister’ (PGI) ( 5 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(6) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/2182 of 10 October 2023 conferring protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council on the name ‘Terras do Dão’ (PGI) ( 6 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(7) This Decision concerns legislation regarding wine. Legislation regarding wine shall not apply to Liechtenstein as long as the application of the Agreement between the European Community and the Swiss Confederation on trade in agricultural products is extended to Liechtenstein, as specified in the seventh paragraph of the introduction to Protocol 47 to the EEA Agreement. This Decision is therefore not to apply to Liechtenstein.

(8) Protocol 47 to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The following points are inserted after point 8x (Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2023/1418) of Appendix I to Protocol 47 to the EEA Agreement:

Article 2

The texts of Implementing Regulations (EU) 2023/2137, (EU) 2023/2140, (EU) 2023/2148, (EU) 2023/2164, (EU) 2023/2173 and (EU) 2023/2182 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 16 March 2024, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) .

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
