DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 74/2023

amending Annex XX (Environment) to the EEA Agreement [2023/2355]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/2087 of 26 September 2022 confirming or amending the provisional calculation of the average specific emissions of CO 2 and the specific emissions targets for manufacturers of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles for the calendar year 2020 and informing manufacturers of the values to be used for the calculation of the specific emissions targets and derogation targets for the calendar years 2021 to 2024 pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/631 of the European Parliament and of the Council ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Annex XX to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The following point is inserted after point 21azm (Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/716) of Annex XX to the EEA Agreement:

‘21azn.

32022 D 2087 : Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/2087 of 26 September 2022 confirming or amending the provisional calculation of the average specific emissions of CO 2 and the specific emissions targets for manufacturers of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles for the calendar year 2020 and informing manufacturers of the values to be used for the calculation of the specific emissions targets and derogation targets for the calendar years 2021 to 2024 pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/631 of the European Parliament and of the Council ( OJ L 280, 28.10.2022, p. 49 ).’

Article 2

The text of Implementing Decision (EU) 2022/2087 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 18 March 2023, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) .

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
