DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 185/2021

amending Annex XX (Environment) to the EEA Agreement [2024/177]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1222 of 24 August 2020 on the approval of efficient vehicle exterior lighting using light emitting diodes as an innovative technology for reducing CO 2 emissions from internal combustion engine powered light commercial vehicles with regard to NEDC conditions pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/631 of the European Parliament and of the Council ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1232 of 27 August 2020 on the approval of the efficient generator function used in 12 Volt motor-generators for use in passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, including certain hybrid electric vehicles and vehicles capable of running on alternative fuels, as an innovative technology pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/631 of the European Parliament and of the Council ( 2 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(3) Annex XX to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The following points are inserted after point 21azfa (Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2019/1713) of Annex XX to the EEA Agreement:

32020 D 1232 : Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1232 of 27 August 2020 on the approval of the efficient generator function used in 12 Volt motor-generators for use in passenger cars and light commercial vehicles, including certain hybrid electric vehicles and vehicles capable of running on alternative fuels, as an innovative technology pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/631 of the European Parliament and of the Council ( OJ L 280, 28.8.2020, p. 18 ).’

Article 2

The texts of Implementing Decisions (EU) 2020/1222 and (EU) 2020/1232 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 12 June 2021, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) .

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
