DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 355/2021

amending Annex XX (Environment) to the EEA Agreement [2024/674]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/973 of 1 June 2021 confirming or amending the provisional calculation of the average specific emissions of CO 2 and the specific emissions targets for manufacturers of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles for the calendar year 2019 and, for the passenger car manufacturer Dr Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG and the Volkswagen pool, for the calendar years 2014 to 2018 pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/631 of the European Parliament and of the Council ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) By virtue of Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 168/2020 of 23 October 2020, Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/973 does not apply to Liechtenstein.

(3) Annex XX to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The following point is inserted after point 21azi (Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2020/1806) of Annex XX to the EEA Agreement:

‘21azj.

32021 D 0973 : Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/973 of 1 June 2021 confirming or amending the provisional calculation of the average specific emissions of CO 2 and the specific emissions targets for manufacturers of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles for the calendar year 2019 and, for the passenger car manufacturer Dr Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG and the Volkswagen pool, for the calendar years 2014 to 2018 pursuant to Regulation (EU) 2019/631 of the European Parliament and of the Council ( OJ L 215, 17.6.2021, p. 1 ).’

Article 2

The text of Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/973 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 11 December 2021, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( *1 ) .

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
