COUNCIL RECOMMENDATION of 16 June 1975 concerning nationals of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg who hold a diploma in medicine conferred in a third country (75/366/EEC)
THE COUNCIL,
Approving Directive No 75/362/EEC (1) concerning the mutual recognition of diplomas, certificates and other evidence of formal qualifications in medicine, including measures to facilitate the effective exercise of the right of establishment and freedom to provide services;
Noting that this Directive refers only to diplomas, certificates and other evidence of formal qualifications conferred in a Member State;
Anxious, however, to take account of the special position of nationals of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg who, since there is no complete university training in the Grand Duchy itself, have studied in a third country;
Hereby recommends that the Governments of the Member States should allow nationals of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg who hold a diploma conferring a degree in medicine awarded in a third country and which has obtained the official recognition of the Minister for Education, in accordance with the law of 18 June 1969 on higher education and the recognition of foreign degrees and diplomas in higher education, to take up and pursue activities as doctors within the Community, by recognizing these diplomas in their territories provided that such diplomas are accompanied by the training certificates endorsed by the Minister for Public Health of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.
Done at Luxembourg, 16 June 1975.
For the Council
The President
