COUNCIL DECISION (EU) 2020/577

of 24 April 2020

appointing two alternate members, proposed by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, of the Committee of the Regions

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,
Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 305 thereof,
Having regard to the proposal of the Dutch Government,
Whereas:
(1) On 10 December 2019, 20 January 2020, 3 February 2020 and 26 March 2020, the Council adopted Decisions (EU) 2019/2157 (1), (EU) 2020/102 (2), (EU) 2020/144 (3) and (EU) 2020/511 (4) appointing the members and alternate members of the Committee of the Regions for the period from 26 January 2020 to 25 January 2025.
(2) Two alternate members’ seats have become vacant following the end of the terms of office of Ms Christianne VAN DER WAL – ZEGGELINK and Mr Johannes Gerrit KRAMER,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The following are hereby appointed as alternate members of the Committee of the Regions for the remainder of the current term of office, which runs until 25 January 2025:
— Mr Johannes Cornelius Gerardus Maria (John) BERENDS, Representative of a regional body with political accountability to an elected Assembly:
Provinciale Staten van de provincie Gelderland
,
— Mr Klaas FOKKINGA, Representative of a regional body with political accountability to an elected Assembly:
Provinciale Staten van de provincie Fryslân
.

Article 2

This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
