of 28 September 2021
appointing a chairperson of a Board of Appeal and extending the term of office of a chairperson of a Board of Appeal of the European Union Intellectual Property Office

THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION,
Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,
Having regard to Regulation (EU) 2017/1001 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 June 2017 on the European Union trade mark (1), and in particular Article 166(1) and (3) thereof,
Whereas:
(1) On 4 June 2021, the Management Board of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) submitted a list of candidates for the post of chairperson of a Board of Appeal of the EUIPO to the Council.
(2) On 1 June 2021, the Management Board of the EUIPO decided to propose to the Council the extension of the term of office of Mr Sven STÜRMANN as chairperson of a Board of Appeal of the EUIPO for an additional period of five years from 1 August 2022,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
1. Ms Nina Maria KORJUS, born in Joensuu (Finland) on 30 June 1971, is hereby appointed chairperson of a Board of Appeal of the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) for a term of five years.
2. The date on which the five-year term referred to in paragraph 1 commences shall be determined by the Management Board of the EUIPO.
Article 2
The term of office of Mr Sven STÜRMANN as chairperson of a Board of Appeal of the EUIPO is hereby extended for a five-year period starting on 1 August 2022 and ending on 31 July 2027.
Article 3
This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its publication in the
Official Journal of the European Union
