DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 189/2022

amending Annex XI (Electronic communication, audiovisual services and information society) to the EEA Agreement [2022/1889]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (‘the EEA Agreement’), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

(1) Regulation (EU) 2022/612 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 April 2022 on roaming on public mobile communications networks within the Union (recast)  ( 1 ) is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

(2) Regulation (EU) 2022/612 repeals, with effect from 1 July 2022, Regulation (EU) No 531/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council  ( 2 ) , which is incorporated into the EEA Agreement and which is consequently to be repealed under the EEA Agreement with effect from 1 July 2022.

(3) Annex XI to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The text of point 5cu (Regulation (EU) No 531/2012 of the European Parliament and of the Council) of Annex XI to the EEA Agreement shall be replaced with effect from 1 July 2022 by the following:

‘ 32022 R 0612 : Regulation (EU) 2022/612 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 6 April 2022 on roaming on public mobile communications networks within the Union (recast) ( OJ L 115, 13.4.2022, p. 1 ).’

Article 2

The text of Regulation (EU) 2022/612 in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 3

This Decision shall enter into force on 11 June 2022, or on the day following the last notification to the EEA Joint Committee under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement  ( * ) , whichever is the later.

Article 4

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
