DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 178/2022

amending Annex II (Technical regulations, standards, testing and certification) and Annex IV (Energy) to the EEA Agreement [2022/1878]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,

Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (‘the EEA Agreement’), and in particular Article 98 thereof,

Whereas:

Regulation (EU) 2020/740 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 May 2020 on the labelling of tyres with respect to fuel efficiency and other parameters, amending Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 and repealing Regulation (EC) No 1222/2009 ( 1 ) , as corrected by OJ L 241, 27.7.2020, p. 46 and OJ L 147, 30.4.2021, p. 23 , is to be incorporated into the EEA Agreement.

Annexes II and IV to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,

HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

The following is added in point 4 (Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 of the European Parliament and of the Council) of Chapter IV of Annex II to the EEA Agreement:

Article 2

Annex IV to the EEA Agreement shall be amended as follows:

The following is added in point 11 (Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 of the European Parliament and of the Council):

The following point is inserted after point 52 (Commission Regulation (EU) 2017/2195):

‘53.

32020 R 0740 : Regulation (EU) 2020/740 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 May 2020 on the labelling of tyres with respect to fuel efficiency and other parameters, amending Regulation (EU) 2017/1369 and repealing Regulation (EC) No 1222/2009 ( OJ L 177, 5.6.2020, p. 1 ), as corrected by OJ L 241, 27.7.2020, p. 46 and OJ L 147, 30.4.2021, p. 23 .’

The text of point 43 (Regulation (EC) No 1222/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council) is deleted.

Article 3

The text of Regulation (EU) 2020/740, as corrected by OJ L 241, 27.7.2020, p. 46 and OJ L 147, 30.4.2021, p. 23 , in the Icelandic and Norwegian languages, to be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union , shall be authentic.

Article 4

This Decision shall enter into force on 11 June 2022, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made ( * ) .

Article 5

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
