DECISION OF THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE No 210/2022

of 8 July 2022

amending Annex VI (Social security) to the EEA Agreement [2023/627]

THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98 thereof,
Whereas:

Regulation (EC) No 883/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 29 April 2004 on the coordination of social security systems  ( 1 ) was incorporated into the EEA Agreement by Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 76/2011 of 1 July 2011  ( 2 ) .
(2)
Following a change in the national legislation of Iceland, a new entry for Iceland should be included in Annex X to Regulation (EC) No 883/2004.
(3)
The method of calculation and the terminology in the Norwegian National Insurance Act describing the guaranteed minimum benefits to persons who are born disabled or become disabled at an early age have been adjusted over time. In the interest of legal clarity, the entry for Norway should be updated to reflect the current national terminology.

Annex VI to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:

Article 1

Adaptation (k) of point 1 of Annex VI to the EEA Agreement (Regulation (EC) No 883/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council) shall be amended as follows:
1.
The following is inserted before “LIECHTENSTEIN”:
‘ICELAND:
 
Additional social support for the elderly (Act No 74/2020 of 3 July 2020).’
2.
The text of letter (a) of the entry for Norway is replaced by the following:
‘Guaranteed minimum benefits to persons who are born disabled or become disabled at an early age under the National Insurance Act (Chapters 12, 17, 18, 19 and 20).’

Article 2

This Decision shall enter into force on 9 July 2022, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement have been made  ( * ) .

Article 3

This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union .
